Dairy Cows

Increase milk production by up to 10% more and get excellent quality milk

Improve dairy cows production with environmental monitoring

Environmental conditions are essential to the health and productivity of dairy cows. With the Cynomys Livestock System (CLS), you constantly monitor parameters such as ammonia, temperature and humidity, reducing heat stress and improving barn air quality.

This approach prevents respiratory problems, optimizes milk production and improves cow welfare, making the herd more profitable and competitive.

With modular and interconnected solutions, CLS enables you to create a healthier environment by improving animal welfare, optimizing nutrition and reducing operating costs. Choose environmental monitoring for high quality milk and more efficient and sustainable animal husbandry.

Indexes guide your decisions

Indices play a key role in understanding the measured data because they allow us to understand the best action to take to solve problems, anticipate critical issues and optimize business cycles and processes.

Key indices in dairy cows management

Monitor the risk of heat stress in dairy cows.

Dairy cow welfare is strongly influenced by environmental temperature and humidity. The Temperature-Humidity Index (THI) is a key tool for monitoring the risk of heat stress and anticipating critical conditions that impact health, fertility and production.

The dairy cow is particularly sensitive to heat. When THI exceeds certain threshold values, the animal struggles to dissipate heat, reducing feed intake and milk production. At more extreme levels, the following can occur:

  • Significant drops in production (-10% to -25% in severe cases)
  • Alterations in fertility and estrous cycles
  • Increased risk of mastitis and metabolic problems
  • Worsening of the food conversion index

Assess the adequacy of light and photoperiod.

Light is not just an environmental factor: for the dairy cow, it is a physiological regulator that directly affects production, welfare, and fertility. TheLight Exposure Efficiency Index allows you to assess whether the intensity and duration of lighting are adequate to support the biological functions of the herd.

Numerous studies show that an optimal photoperiod-specifically 16 hours of light followed by 8 hours of darkness-can lead to:

  • Increased milk production up to +10-15%.
  • improvement of food efficiency
  • Increased activity and positive herd behavior
  • Positive effects on fertility and reproductive health

In addition, light intensity must exceed certain thresholds (typically >150-200 lux) to activate the endocrine response related to melatonin secretion, thus regulating the animal’s biological rhythms.

A well-managed light display is a productive factor in its own right. Don’t let an invisible detail undermine months of work and investment-the data make the difference.

Measures the effectiveness of food conversion.

In the dairy cow, nutrition and production yield are two sides of the same coin. TheFeed Efficiency Index makes it possible to monitor how efficiently the ration fed is converted into milk, taking into account not only feed intake but also ruminal fermentation and methane emissions.

In a modern livestock system, every mouthful must translate into gallons of milk, animal welfare and environmental sustainability. Methane, produced during fermentation in the rumen, is a natural by-product of metabolism, but also a direct indicator of how effectively the ration is assimilated.

Improved food efficiency means:

  • higher milk production for the same ration
  • Reduction of energy losses in the form of methane
  • Lower environmental impact per liter of milk produced
  • Optimization of diet formulation (e.g., fiber, starches, additives)
